Cwmstwrdy is a smallholding in beautiful mid Wales where I breed goats and sheep, producing fine mohair and wool fleeces for sale to others and to use in my own craft work. I love the whole process from animal to finished product.
Meet the team

Angoras

Shetlands

Bowmonts

The angoras arrived first.
In 2011 I bought 4 does and have bred a few each year using show champion bucks to gradually improve the quality of the goats and their mohair until I started to win some prizes too.
There’s more information about the goats and their amazing fleeces on the mohair page.
Shetland sheep were next, a ram and four ewes bought in 2012. I still have 2 of the ewes, Cariad and Eleanor, now 14 years old and starting to show their age.
Shetland sheep are small hardy animals with fine, soft wool. There are 11 main colours and over 30 markings which makes lambing time interesting trying to predict what each ewe might bring.
Go to the wool page for more about the sheep and their wool.

Bowmonts weren’t in the original plan. I hadn’t heard of the breed before I saw an advert on a smallholder’s forum but who could resist the chance to produce wool this fine.
First came Monty in 2014, then Nina and Ben with their lamb Bo a year later.
Now I have a small flock with micron counts around 18 – 20μm.
Find out more about them on the wool page.
